We created the Don’t Die Event to help you survive and thrive no matter what life throws at you.

The skills you learn will boost your confidence and readiness for any scenario—whether you’re traveling abroad, out late in an unfamiliar city, heading off on a wilderness trip, or just trying to navigate through a stressful crisis at work.
Beyond practical survival skills, you’ll learn the tenets of how to stay fit, healthy, and mentally tough for the long haul. The type of fitness you need in the wilderness or a chaotic scenario is the same that’ll help you age well and decrease your risk of disease the most.

I’ve made a career traveling into some of the most remote and kinetic places on earth to uncover practical ideas that help people live healthier, happier, safer, and more remarkable lives. 

I publish my findings in my New York Times bestselling books, The Comfort Crisis and Scarcity Brain, and on my popular newsletter, Two Percent.

My research has taken me everywhere—from conflict zones in the Middle East to the most far away reaches of the Arctic and Amazon jungle. Those places have taught me the keys to survival, mindset, physical preparation, and much more.

I take insights from the edge and make them accessible and actionable for anyone. My ideas have been adopted by the U.S. military, professional sports teams, leading universities, NASA, and Fortune 500 companies. 

The Don’t Die event lets me work with others to help them optimize their approach to life—no matter who they are and where life takes them.

MEET THE TEAM

MIKE MORENO

I spent over a decade in national security roles across the Middle East, including years as a CIA Case Officer at the height of conflict in multiple war zones.

Between overseas tours, I served as an instructor at the FBI Academy, helping Special Agents understand and defeat some of their hardest targets. Along the way, I learned a unique blend of survival skills useful in both everyday and “kinetic” environments. 

My expertise is not just in acquiring information, but in helping people to get through the worst-case scenario.  

I’ve made friends and learned hard lessons in some of the darkest corners of the earth. 

This event is an opportunity to pass on that experience and to trade those stories with you. I distill what the average person should know for when things go wrong, and what skills from my time with the CIA will help you thrive in everyday life.

FAQ

Can I cancel if I sign up but can’t go?

You’re free to cancel and not come, but we can’t issue refunds because we pay for everyone’s accommodations, meals, and more well in advance of the event. That said, we view your entry fee like a concert ticket: If you want to give or sell your entry to someone else, we’re totally fine with that!

WHAT DOES MY FEE INCLUDE?

Everything but your airfare. This means that your fee includes lodging, transportation to the hotel and event site daily, and all of your meals beginning Saturday morning and ending when the event finishes at 4pm on Sunday, when we drive you back to the airport or hotel.

Who attends this event?

Our last cohort included people ranging in age from 18 to 72. A third were women. Roughly 80 percent had zero prior experience with the material we taught. Our curriculum is designed to cater to a wide range of experiences, ensuring valuable learning for everyone.

Do I need to be very physically fit?

All ability levels are welcome. Participants will learn and practice how to think differently about fitness and physical abilities. You’ll hike and exercise, but we’ve adapted the training so you can go as hard or easy as you’d like. You can also sit any of the workouts out—our goal is to give you the foundations, which you can take home and use to improve, no matter your current ability level.

Is this event “hardcore?”

This is not one of those events where the instructors yell at you while spraying you with a hose as you do endless pushups. Research shows that people learn better when given expertly-curated information that is applicable to real life, paired with guided practice and respectful feedback. That’s what we offer. If you’re looking for an event that mimics a reality TV show about Navy SEAL training camp—with lots of being screamed at—this event is likely not a good fit for you. Remember, the motto of 2% is “Have Fun, Don’t Die.” You’ll have A LOT of fun with likeminded people as you learn incredibly valuable skills.

Can beginners attend, or is it only for people with prior survival and fitness training?

The vast majority of our last cohort had no prior training. More than half weren’t avid exercisers.

What should I bring to the event?

We’ll email you the details of exactly what you need to bring. But don’t worry—you won’t need to purchase a lot of expensive gear. You’ll mostly need appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking in the sunny Mojave desert. We’ll also supply you with a killer Don’t Die kit.

Where will we be staying?

In one of the newest resorts in Las Vegas. We’ll be out in the desert in the day, but you’ll come home to a comfortable, quiet room at night.
